Reflecting on the vibrant tapestry of our community's past, I am deeply moved by the transformative impact of the TRC Youth Wing Tuition Program during the 1980s. For those who were teenagers or students at that time, this initiative was more than just a tuition program; it was a beacon of hope and unity.

Long before governmental support structures were in place, this visionary, self-sustaining program was conceived and operated by students for students under the mentorship of Dr A Veeramani.This program's core mission was to uplift our community through the power of education. Countless young minds all around the island received exceptional coaching and guidance from their senior peers. The dedication of volunteer teachers—tertiary and polytechnic students, as well as recent graduates—who selflessly gave their time and expertise back to the community they cherished, is nothing short of inspiring.

வணக்கம். நான் உயர்நிலை 2 ல் படித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தபோதே வானொலி மாணவர் நிகழ்வில் கலந்துகொண்டபோதே உங்களை அறிவேன். மிகுந்த மதிப்பும் மரியாதையும் கொண்டிருந்தேன். (1971) அதன்பிறகு நான் தமிழகம் சென்று படித்து ஊர் திரும்பிய பிறகு 1983 லிருந்து இளையர் மன்ற நடவடிக்கைகளில் இணைந்துள்ளேன். அன்றிலிருந்து இன்றுவரை ஐயாவின் ஆழ்ந்த சமூகப் பற்றைக் கண்டு வியந்துள்ளேன். இளையர்களை வழிநடத்தும் அந்த தொடர் ஆற்றல் கண்டு பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறேன். அவர்கள் வழியில் நின்று முடிந்தவரை இளையர் மன்ற வாழ்நாள் ஆலோசகராக முடிந்த சேவை செய்து வருகிறேன். யாவும் அவரது வழிகாட்டுதல் படியே. உங்களது தொடர் ஆற்றல் கண்டு பெருமை கொள்கிறேன். வேறு யாராலும் இவ்வாறு தொடர் தொண்டு செய்ய இயலுமா என்று தெரியவில்லை. உங்கள் ஆற்றலை மதிக்கின்றேன். உங்கள் தெளிவான பற்றை போற்றுகின்றேன். உங்கள் கொள்கைகள் தொடரட்டும். உங்கள் சேவை வளரட்டும். உங்கள் நீண்ட ஆயுளுக்கு வேண்டுகின்றேன். உங்கள் வழிகாட்டுதலை வரவேற்கின்றோம். என்றும் வாழ்க வளமும் நலமும் பெற்று. இறையருள் நிச்சயம் காக்கும்.

Dear Prof Mani,

Thank you for your close guidance, unwavering support and kindness. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude and appreciation. Not just me, you have encouraged hundreds of youth who have come forward to volunteer to promote Tamil Language and contribute to the Indian community. Regardless of their educational status, background or differing abilities, you have encouraged them and always highlighted each and everyone’s talents.

You were never like any other leaders. You have changed the lives of many youths including me. Without wanting any leadership roles or name and fame for yourself, you stood steadfast behind all of us.

I guess, TRC Educational Assistance Programme was your greatest contribution and you charted a new direction for many youths from humble backgrounds.

Personally, you made a life changing moment when your timely advise to my dad allowed me to drop Maths and take TL at ‘A’ Level.…
